R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Major Sid W.
  Brookshire suffered a great loss with his death in Iraq on June 20,
  2007, at the age of 36; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment,
  2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort
  Stewart, Georgia, Major Brookshire died of wounds suffered when his
  vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, The son of James Brookshire of Anahuac and the
  grandson of former Texas county judge S. N. Brookshire, Sid
  Brookshire was born in Honolulu on September 11, 1970; he was a
  graduate of Willard High School and Southwest Missouri State
  University, and in 2006, he graduated from the U.S. Army War
  College; and
         WHEREAS, Major Brookshire began his 14-year career in the
  army as a member of the Missouri Army National Guard; he became a
  commissioned officer, trained as a ranger at Fort Stewart, and was
  serving his first deployment in Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his warmth and kindness, Sid Brookshire
  was devoted to his family, and in his free time, he enjoyed spending
  time outdoors and riding his motorcycle; and
         WHEREAS, Major Brookshire represented this country and its
  armed forces with courage and honor, and all Americans owe him a
  profound debt of gratitude that the passage of time can never
  diminish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Major Sid W.
  Brookshire and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Karin; to his daughters, Faith Ann and Bethany;
  to his father, James Brookshire, and his wife, Jackie; to his
  mother, JoBeth; to his sister, Lisa Manon, and her daughter, Alice;
  to his stepsisters, Angelina Santa Maria, Sherry Lopez, Ronda
  Langley, Christine Ledo, and Georgina Macala; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sid
  Brookshire.
