R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss
  of U.S. Army Corporal Steven Ivan Candelo of Houston, who died on
  March 26, 2008, at the age of 20; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry
  Regiment, based at Vilseck, Germany, Corporal Candelo was killed
  while bravely serving his country in Baghdad, Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 11, 1987, Steven Candelo graduated in
  2005 from Elsik High School and subsequently became a proud member
  of the army; known for his courage, wisdom, and drive, he already
  owned his own home and was to be the first in his family to attend
  college; and
         WHEREAS, The military awards conferred on Corporal Candelo
  include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and
         WHEREAS, Time can never diminish the profound debt that
  Americans owe to Steven Candelo for the service he undertook and the
  sacrifice he rendered, and the thoughts and prayers of many go out
  to the family of this beloved young man; he was a soldier of honor
  and valor, and those who were privileged to know him will forever
  carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal
  Steven I. Candelo and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his parents, Alvaro Candelo and Julia Martinez; to his
  sisters, Ivanna and Erica Candelo; to his fiancée, Erica Vasquez;
  and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Corporal Steven Ivan Candelo.
