R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss |
|
of U.S. Army Corporal Steven Ivan Candelo of Houston, who died on |
|
March 26, 2008, at the age of 20; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|
Regiment, based at Vilseck, Germany, Corporal Candelo was killed |
|
while bravely serving his country in Baghdad, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on June 11, 1987, Steven Candelo graduated in |
|
2005 from Elsik High School and subsequently became a proud member |
|
of the army; known for his courage, wisdom, and drive, he already |
|
owned his own home and was to be the first in his family to attend |
|
college; and |
|
WHEREAS, The military awards conferred on Corporal Candelo |
|
include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and |
|
WHEREAS, Time can never diminish the profound debt that |
|
Americans owe to Steven Candelo for the service he undertook and the |
|
sacrifice he rendered, and the thoughts and prayers of many go out |
|
to the family of this beloved young man; he was a soldier of honor |
|
and valor, and those who were privileged to know him will forever |
|
carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal |
|
Steven I. Candelo and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his parents, Alvaro Candelo and Julia Martinez; to his |
|
sisters, Ivanna and Erica Candelo; to his fiancée, Erica Vasquez; |
|
and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Corporal Steven Ivan Candelo. |
