R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |
|
the loss of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Juan F. Campos of McAllen, who |
|
died on June 1, 2007, at the age of 27; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry |
|
Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Sergeant |
|
Campos was based at Schweinfurt, Germany; he died at Brooke Army |
|
Medical Center in San Antonio from wounds he had sustained during an |
|
attack on his unit on May 14, 2007, in Baghdad; he had been bravely |
|
serving his second tour of duty in Iraq, and he was posthumously |
|
awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Houston on November 28, 1979, to Santos and |
|
Maria Campos, Juan Campos went on to graduate from high school in |
|
McAllen, and in 2000, he met his future wife, Jamie Drury-Campos; a |
|
loving husband and father, Sergeant Campos brought joy and laughter |
|
into the lives of his family and friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the United States |
|
armed forces, Sergeant Campos inspired others with his leadership |
|
and courage; although he is deeply missed, he will forever be |
|
treasured in the hearts of his loved ones; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Staff |
|
Sergeant Juan F. Campos and extend sincere sympathy to all those who |
|
mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Staff Sergeant Juan F. Campos. |
