R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The friends and family of U.S. Army Sergeant Randell |
|
Olguin suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of this valiant |
|
soldier on September 30, 2007, at the age of 24; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|
Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany, Sergeant Olguin was mortally |
|
wounded while bravely serving his second tour of duty in Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on August 2, 1983, in Orlando, Florida, Randy |
|
Olguin graduated in 2003 from Ralls High School, where he played |
|
football for four years and was an all-district honorable mention |
|
baseball player, a regional qualifier in cross-country, and a |
|
member of the band, and where he also played basketball; he |
|
subsequently enlisted in the army; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Olguin met his future wife, Anna Hammer, in |
|
Germany, and the couple were married on December 22, 2005, in Ralls; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|
forces, Randy Olguin inspired others with his fortitude and |
|
courage; although his passing has left a void in the lives of those |
|
who were fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry his |
|
memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Randell Olguin and |
|
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Anna; to his parents, Senaido and Gail Olguin; to his siblings, Jose |
|
Olguin, Jennie Morin, Anita Baker, and Janet Rios; to his |
|
grandmother, Virginia Bowen; to his mother-in-law, Elfriede |
|
Hammer; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Sergeant Randell Olguin. |
