R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |
|
at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Quincy J. Green of El Paso, who |
|
died on June 2, 2008, at the age of 26; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 601st Aviation Support Battalion, |
|
1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort |
|
Riley, Kansas, Specialist Green lost his life while bravely serving |
|
his country in Tikrit, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Quincy Green graduated in 2001 from Orange Park High |
|
School in Florida, where he endeared himself to others with his |
|
optimism, energy, and sense of humor; he was a dedicated member of |
|
the ROTC who often stayed up late prepping for Navy Junior ROTC |
|
events, and he was beloved for his lively performances as the |
|
school's mascot at football games; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following in his brother's footsteps, this esteemed |
|
young man enlisted in the army in 2003 and went on to become a |
|
chaplain's assistant; he was on his first deployment to Iraq at the |
|
time of his death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young man is a |
|
sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Green embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|
loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |
|
Quincy J. Green and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Lori; to his daughters, Alanah and Kaitlyn; and |
|
to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Quincy |
|
Green. |
