R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of U.S. Army
  Private First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., who died in Iraq on July 17,
  2007, at the age of 19; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the 401st Military Police Company, 92nd
  Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade in Baghdad,
  Private Joshua was killed when an improvised explosive device
  detonated near his vehicle; and
         WHEREAS, He was born in Germany to a military family; his
  father, Ron Joshua, Sr., is a master sergeant who has also served in
  Iraq and his mother, Ursula Joshua, is also an Army veteran; Ron
  Joshua, Jr., played football at Hendrickson High School in
  Pflugerville, where he graduated in 2006; shortly thereafter, this
  brave young man answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted; and
         WHEREAS, Although Ron Joshua was always a quiet, polite, and
  respectful young man, he had a delightful sense of humor, a love of
  adventure and a good challenge, and a smile that brightened the day
  of all he encountered; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young soldier is a
  sobering reminder of the cost of war; Private Joshua embodied the
  highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who loved him
  will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private
  First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to
  his family: to his father, Master Sergeant Ron L. Joshua, Sr.; to
  his mother, Ursula A. Joshua; to his stepmother, Rachel Joshua; to
  his sisters, Brittany Joshua and Krashona Broden; to his
  grandparents, Brenda and John Lawson and Katherine Drew, and his
  step-grandparents, Randy and Denise Seifferlein; and to his many
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private
  First Class Ron Joshua.
