R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of U.S. Army |
|
Private First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., who died in Iraq on July 17, |
|
2007, at the age of 19; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the 401st Military Police Company, 92nd |
|
Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade in Baghdad, |
|
Private Joshua was killed when an improvised explosive device |
|
detonated near his vehicle; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was born in Germany to a military family; his |
|
father, Ron Joshua, Sr., is a master sergeant who has also served in |
|
Iraq and his mother, Ursula Joshua, is also an Army veteran; Ron |
|
Joshua, Jr., played football at Hendrickson High School in |
|
Pflugerville, where he graduated in 2006; shortly thereafter, this |
|
brave young man answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Ron Joshua was always a quiet, polite, and |
|
respectful young man, he had a delightful sense of humor, a love of |
|
adventure and a good challenge, and a smile that brightened the day |
|
of all he encountered; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young soldier is a |
|
sobering reminder of the cost of war; Private Joshua embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who loved him |
|
will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private |
|
First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to |
|
his family: to his father, Master Sergeant Ron L. Joshua, Sr.; to |
|
his mother, Ursula A. Joshua; to his stepmother, Rachel Joshua; to |
|
his sisters, Brittany Joshua and Krashona Broden; to his |
|
grandparents, Brenda and John Lawson and Katherine Drew, and his |
|
step-grandparents, Randy and Denise Seifferlein; and to his many |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private |
|
First Class Ron Joshua. |
