R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
  at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Michael James Jaurigue of Texas
  City, who was killed in Iraq on May 26, 2007, at the age of 20; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute
  Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division,
  Specialist Jaurigue was a machine gunner who had been in Iraq since
  August 2006; he was mortally wounded during combat operations near
  Samarra; and
         WHEREAS, Despite the dangerous nature of his assignment,
  Specialist Jaurigue was committed to fulfilling his mission to the
  very best of his ability, and the heroism he demonstrated in battle
  earned him numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star and
  Purple Heart; and
         WHEREAS, Michael Jaurigue was born on August 11, 1986, in
  Honolulu, Hawaii; he attended Texas City High School before
  graduating from Dickinson High School in 2004; a member of the
  American Legion in Texas City, he enjoyed visiting the post to shoot
  pool and listen to music with friends; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young men
  and women whose love for their country inspires them to military
  service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary young man is a
  sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Jaurigue embodied
  the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and
  loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representative of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist
  Michael James Jaurigue and extend deepest sympathy to the members
  of his family: to his father, Jose Noe Jaurigue; to his mother,
  Juana Nico Jaurigue; to his sister, Monica Jaurigue; to his nephew,
  Kevin Heimavr; to his grandparents, Miqueila Almanza and Epifanio
  and Teresa Mata; and to his other relatives and many friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael
  James Jaurigue.
