R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The friends and family of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant
  Jeffery Lee Hartley suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of
  this valiant soldier in Iraq on April 8, 2008, at the age of 25; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Hartley was assigned to the 1st Battalion,
  10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd
  Infantry Division, out of Fort Benning, Georgia; he was on his fifth
  tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed by a bomb that exploded near
  his vehicle in Kharguliah; and
         WHEREAS, Jeff Hartley grew up in Hempstead, where he was a
  member of the football team and the powerlifting team in high
  school; soon after graduating in 2001, he entered the military,
  where he became known for his dedication to duty, his sense of
  humor, and his concern for his fellow soldiers; and
         WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
  forces, Jeffery Hartley inspired others with his courage, and
  although his passing has left a void in the lives of those who were
  fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry his memory
  close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Staff Sergeant
  Jeffery Lee Hartley and extend sincere condolences to the members
  of his family: to his father and stepmother, David and Ann Hartley;
  to his brother, David Wayne Hartley; to his sisters, Lisa Ann
  Willever and her husband, Chris, and Kaylie Hartley; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeffery Lee
  Hartley.
