R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of United States Marine Lance
  Corporal Emmanuel Villarreal of Eagle Pass suffered a great loss
  with the passing of this outstanding young man in Kuwait on May 27,
  2007, at the age of 21; and
         WHEREAS, Corporal Villarreal was assigned to Battalion
  Landing Team 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 13th Marine
  Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, and based at Camp
  Pendleton, California; he was mortally injured in a vehicle
  accident while loading heavy artillery at Kuwait Naval Base; at the
  time, Corporal Villarreal had just begun his second tour of duty in
  support of operations in Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, A Texan who had long wanted to serve his country,
  Emmanuel Villarreal joined the marines in July 2004, shortly after
  receiving his diploma from C. C. Winn High School; in the corps, his
  ability, dedication to duty, and friendly personality won him the
  respect of his commanding officer and the affection and goodwill of
  the other members of his unit; he also became a valued part of the
  congregation at the church he attended in Oceanside when not on
  deployment; and
         WHEREAS, Corporal Villarreal met his wife, Sylvia, while
  stationed in California, and they exchanged wedding vows at his
  family's home in Eagle Pass on December 30, 2006; and
         WHEREAS, All Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to
  Corporal Emmanuel Villarreal for his readiness to assume the heavy
  demands of military service and for his courageous, steadfast
  efforts in this country's behalf; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lance Corporal
  Emmanuel Villarreal and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
  his family: to his wife, Sylvia Villarreal; to his mother,
  Esperanza Villarreal; to his sister, Edna Elizabeth Villarreal; and
  to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lance
  Corporal Emmanuel Villarreal.
