R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Major Thomas G.
  Bostick, Jr., of Llano suffered an immeasurable loss with the death
  of this valiant soldier on July 27, 2007, at the age of 37; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment
  of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, based in Vicenza, Italy,
  Major Bostick lost his life while bravely serving his country on his
  second tour of duty in Afghanistan; he was posthumously promoted to
  the rank of major; and
         WHEREAS, Tommy Bostick graduated in 1988 from Llano High
  School, where he was a star on the basketball team; he joined the
  Army Reserve in his senior year and subsequently embarked on an
  active-duty military career, serving in Panama in 1989, followed by
  Operations Desert Thunder, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom;
  initially an enlisted soldier, he later attended officer training
  school and became a commander and a member of the elite Army
  Rangers; his achievements in uniform inspired others, particularly
  his younger brother, Bobby, who followed in his footsteps to become
  a Ranger; and
         WHEREAS, Major Bostick married Jennifer Dudley in 1992, and
  they were the proud parents of two daughters, Jessica and Ashlie;
  beloved for his warm personality and natural optimism, Tommy
  Bostick connected easily with children and looked forward to one
  day pursuing a second career as a teacher; he had also undertaken
  studies in law enforcement and earned a degree in criminal justice
  from Columbus State University; and
         WHEREAS, Highly decorated throughout his career, Major
  Bostick was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, a
  Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, the Master
  Parachutist Badge, and multiple Army Commendation Medals; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
  servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts and enormous
  sacrifices are deserving of the deepest respect and gratitude;
  through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, Tommy Bostick
  embodied the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and
  those who knew him will forever hold his memory close in their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Major Thomas G.
  Bostick, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Jennifer Bostick; to his daughters, Jessica
  and Ashlie Bostick; to his mother and stepfather, Brenda and Jim
  Richardson; to his father and stepmother, Tommy and Ann Bostick; to
  his brother, Sergeant Bobby Bostick; to his grandparents, Maudean
  and Bob Keeler; to his stepsisters, Sonya Richardson, Valorie Ruth,
  and Shamariee Bostick; to his stepbrother, J. W. Richardson; and to
  his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thomas G.
  Bostick, Jr.
