R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
  at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Orlando Antonio Perez of
  Houston, who died on February 24, 2008, at the age of 23; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment,
  based in Vilseck, Germany, Specialist Perez lost his life while
  bravely serving his country in Baghdad, Iraq; he was especially
  admired by his fellow platoon members for his willingness to be the
  first to enter rooms when searching for insurgents in Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Tony Perez was born in Houston on December 10, 1984;
  he graduated from Bellaire High School, where he was a dedicated
  member of the ROTC program, and went on to attend the University of
  Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering
  reminder of the cost of war; Tony Perez embodied the highest ideals
  of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him will
  forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist
  Orlando Antonio Perez and extend sincere sympathy to his family:  to
  his wife, April Perez; to his mother, Nicolasa Arevalo; to his
  brother, Edward Marta; to his sister, Angelica Marta; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Orlando
  Antonio Perez.
