R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of |
|
U.S. Army Specialist Aaron James Walker of Harker Heights, who died |
|
on September 18, 2007, at the age of 23; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|
Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based out of Vilseck, Germany, |
|
Specialist Walker lost his life during combat operations in |
|
Baghdad, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, "A. J." Walker, the son of loving parents Darryl and |
|
Annie Walker, grew up in Arkansas, attending high school in Little |
|
Rock, where he was a member of the football team; also active in his |
|
church, he played drums in its band and helped his dad with his |
|
duties as youth pastor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his passion for life, Specialist Walker |
|
loved his country and followed in his father's footsteps when he |
|
joined the military; above all else, he was devoted to his family, |
|
including his wife, Amber; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this fine soldier is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Walker embodied the highest |
|
ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him |
|
will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |
|
Aaron James Walker and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Amber Walker; to his parents, Darryl and Annie |
|
Walker; to his siblings, Alex and Andee; and to his other relatives |
|
and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Specialist Aaron James Walker. |
