R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Nicole Benjamin has been named the Teacher of the |
|
|
Year for 2009 at Parker Elementary School in Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Benjamin is a graduate of the University of |
|
|
Houston-Downtown, where she majored in interdisciplinary studies; |
|
|
since embarking on her career, she has distinguished herself as a |
|
|
physical education instructor for the past four years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Her experience with motherhood inspired her to |
|
|
become a teacher when she realized how much her son enjoyed |
|
|
learning, and she conveys that same enthusiasm to her students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Benjamin is active in her community as a member |
|
|
of the Parent Teacher Organization at both Parker Elementary and |
|
|
Johnston Middle Schools, and she has served on the board of Westbury |
|
|
Little League and is a member of Lakewood Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, There is no more important work than educating the |
|
|
children of Texas, and Nicole Benjamin's notable achievement is a |
|
|
fitting acknowledgment of the positive and lasting difference one |
|
|
committed person can make in the lives of young people; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Nicole Benjamin on her selection as |
|
|
the 2009 Teacher of the Year by Parker Elementary School and extend |
|
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Benjamin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
