R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Junior Leadership El Paso celebrated the completion |
|
of Class VI on May 13, 2009, and the graduates of this notable |
|
program may look forward to a future bright with promise; and |
|
WHEREAS, Targeting 11th grade students from El Paso high |
|
schools, this worthwhile initiative encourages area youth to |
|
develop civic leadership skills through interaction with local |
|
government, business, arts, and community leaders; and |
|
WHEREAS, Participants learn about a variety of career paths |
|
and about El Paso's history, social and economic issues, and future |
|
development opportunities; the semester-long program takes place |
|
during seven sessions designed to support their high school |
|
education by fulfilling Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Social |
|
Studies criteria; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the experiences it provides, Junior |
|
Leadership El Paso is building a more informed and involved |
|
citizenry and developing new leaders, and this commendable endeavor |
|
and its participants truly merit special recognition for their |
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the members of Junior Leadership El Paso |
|
Class VI and extend to them sincere best wishes for future success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the graduates as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
