R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mary Hoover has played a vital role in her community
  through her service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region; and
         WHEREAS, The El Paso YWCA provides services to empower and
  enrich the lives of women and girls in the El Paso region, and it is
  celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Mary Hoover's relationship with the El Paso YWCA
  dates back to her childhood, when she learned gymnastics and tap
  dance at the YWCA building on Franklin Street as an eight-year-old
  girl; thanks to her early athletic training, she has remained
  active throughout her life, as a skilled tennis player and golfer;
  and
         WHEREAS, In 1969, Ms. Hoover joined the YWCA's board of
  directors, playing an instrumental role in adapting the institution
  to handle the requirements of providing day care to its members; as
  the board's treasurer, she also played a role in managing the
  federal money that became available to support child care at that
  time; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers play an important role in
  communities across the Lone Star State, and for many years, Mary
  Hoover has served as an inspiring leader and role model in El Paso
  through her work with this noteworthy organization; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Mary Hoover for her record of service
  with the El Paso YWCA and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hoover as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
