R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Alex Boerschinger of El Paso demonstrated bravery |
|
and resolve on May 5, 2009, when he rescued a neighbor from her |
|
burning house; and |
|
WHEREAS, That afternoon, Mr. Boerschinger and his wife, |
|
Anique Vasquez, smelled smoke coming through their air conditioner |
|
in their home in northeast El Paso; they went outside and discovered |
|
a neighboring house in flames, which were spreading to another |
|
house next door; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Vasquez called 9-1-1, and Mr. Boerschinger |
|
knocked on the door of the burning house to warn the residents; when |
|
no one answered, he went in through a side door and found a woman |
|
inside, who was confused and afraid; and |
|
WHEREAS, Despite the thickening, choking smoke, Mr. |
|
Boerschinger took charge and led the woman and her two dogs to |
|
safety; thanks to his decisive action, no one was seriously injured |
|
in the blaze; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Boerschinger put himself in harm's way to help a |
|
neighbor in grave danger, and his swift and selfless action averted |
|
what could have been a terrible tragedy; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Alex Boerschinger for his life-saving |
|
actions on May 5, 2009, and honor this remarkable gentleman as a |
|
true Texas hero; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Boerschinger as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
