R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Melissa Wiseman has played a vital role in her
  community through her service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte
  Region; and
         WHEREAS, The El Paso YWCA provides services to empower and
  enrich the lives of women and girls in the El Paso region, and it is
  celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Wiseman first became involved with the El Paso
  YWCA in 1974; as a young mother at a time when there were no drop-in
  day-care centers, she became a charter member of the YWCA's Le
  Collage program; this group of stay-at-home mothers worked to
  support and educate each other about community and parenting
  skills; and
         WHEREAS, Through her work with this group, Ms. Wiseman became
  a YWCA board member, playing a vital role in expanding the
  organization from a single facility to many branches across El
  Paso; she visited YWCAs across the nation, and she was instrumental
  in the creation of the Shirley Leavell Branch; she has since served
  the YWCA at the national level; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers play an important role in
  communities across the Lone Star State, and for many years, Melissa
  Wiseman has served as an inspiring leader and role model in El Paso
  through her work with the YWCA; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Melissa Wiseman for her long record of
  service with the El Paso YWCA and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Wiseman as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
