R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, George Moore is ending his dual role with Texarkana
  Independent School District when he steps down as principal of
  Texas Middle School, but as he continues to serve as assistant
  superintendent of the Alternative Education program, the district
  and its students will continue to benefit from his notable
  expertise and experience; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of East Texas Baptist College, Mr. Moore
  earned his master of education degree in 1979 from Texas A&M
  University at Texarkana; he joined Texarkana ISD in 1971 and taught
  at Texas High School until 1986; and
         WHEREAS, After serving as assistant principal of Westlawn
  Middle School and principal of Fifteenth Street Elementary and Pine
  Street Middle Schools, he became assistant superintendent for
  campus operations at Texas Middle School in 1999; four years later,
  he was named assistant superintendent for alternative education and
  principal; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his strong leadership and his natural
  ability with students and parents, Mr. Moore has readily accepted
  the most challenging administrative assignments; in every
  instance, he has been successful in creating a positive learning
  situation for students by bringing innovative programs and positive
  attitudes to his campus; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Moore's career has been highlighted by many
  professional honors, including the Middle School Principal of the
  Year Award for the State of Texas from the Texas Association of
  Secondary School Principals, the Region VIII Principal of the Year
  award, and selection as a finalist for the 2006 National Principal
  of the Year Award from the National Association of Secondary School
  Principals; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Moore is an active leader within the Texarkana
  community; he is a past president of the Oaklawn Rotary Club, a
  former member of the United Way Executive Board, a former vice
  chairman of the Civil Service Commission, and a current board
  member of the Texarkana Area Chapter of the American Red Cross,
  Texarkana Crime Stoppers, and Teen Court; and
         WHEREAS, George Moore has had a remarkable career shaping
  school environments in Texarkana to the benefit of students and his
  community, and his record of service and commitment to excellence
  in education provide an outstanding example for this and future
  generations; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor George Moore for his service to Texarkana
  ISD and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with
  his important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
