R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
by a great and enduring love, Ollie and Leta Hartgroves of McGregor |
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ollie Earl Hartgroves, Jr., and the former Leta Bell |
|
Cupp were united in matrimony on that special day in 1957 at North |
|
Waco Baptist Church, and through the years, they have nurtured a |
|
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the |
|
addition of their children, Tammie Hartgroves, Janie Barton and her |
|
husband, Carl, Lawrence Hartgroves and his wife, Lori, and Thomas |
|
Hartgroves and his wife, Kay, as well as seven grandchildren, |
|
Samantha, Christopher, Lauren, Lindsey, Laci, Justin, and Jacob, |
|
and a great-granddaughter, Shelby; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hartgroves served in the U.S. Marine Corps from |
|
1957 to 1960, retired as director of finance with the U.S. Postal |
|
Service, and currently owns Hartgroves Tax Service in Waco; Mrs. |
|
Hartgroves retired as a teacher at Bell's Hill Elementary School |
|
and is a member of the Laureate Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma |
|
Phi Sorority; the couple are active in the Hewitt Lions Club, where |
|
Mrs. Hartgroves became the first female member in 1992, and are |
|
members of the First Baptist Church of Woodway; and |
|
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|
world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife |
|
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the |
|
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ollie and Leta Hartgroves on their |
|
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hartgroves as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
