R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than a decade, the Summer Santa
  organization has remained dedicated to enhancing the lives of
  children in northeast Tarrant County; and
         WHEREAS, Created by Judge Brad Bradley and Dave Lieber in
  1997, Summer Santa encourages members of the community to support
  children's causes, not only during the holidays but throughout the
  year; an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, Summer Santa has
  served more than 30,000 children in North Texas through its various
  programs and activities; and
         WHEREAS, The work of Summer Santa includes collecting toys
  from area schools and books from Barnes & Noble Booksellers to
  distribute to a number of local charities that assist children in
  need; in addition, this noteworthy organization offers summer camp
  scholarships to approximately 250 young people each year, as well
  as free checkups for those children who need medical clearance to
  attend camp; Summer Santa has also built a partnership with Kohl's
  department store, through which it provides back-to-school
  clothing and supplies to hundreds of youth at reduced rates; and
         WHEREAS, Summer Santa is helping build a brighter future for
  many young Texans, and its efforts indeed merit special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Summer Santa for its outstanding service
  to children and extend to all those associated with the
  organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their
  worthy endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Summer Santa as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
