R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Three Austin Boy Scouts, John Jefferson Bradshaw, |
|
|
Collin Cruz Evans, and Christopher Russell Marshall, are receiving |
|
|
the prestigious Gold Congressional Award on June 25, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The national Congressional Award program is |
|
|
sponsored by the United States Congress and is open to young people |
|
|
between the ages of 14 and 23; participants earn Bronze, Silver, or |
|
|
Gold Congressional Awards by achieving goals in volunteer public |
|
|
service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bradshaw, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Marshall are all |
|
|
Eagle Scouts, and all have been members of the Boy Scout troop |
|
|
sponsored by the Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin; |
|
|
together, they have contributed more than 1,000 hours of community |
|
|
service in the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Fewer than 270 young people have earned the Gold |
|
|
Congressional Award in the past year, and the hard work and public |
|
|
spirit demonstrated by these three outstanding young men is indeed |
|
|
worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate John Jefferson Bradshaw, Collin |
|
|
Cruz Evans, and Christopher Russell Marshall for receiving the Gold |
|
|
Congressional Award and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and a bright future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Bradshaw, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Marshall as an |
|
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
