R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chris Gieringer has been named the 2009 Elementary
  Teacher of the Year by the Round Rock Independent School District;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Gieringer earned her bachelor's degree in speech
  and English at Southwest Texas State University and her master's
  degree in education from the University of Houston; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran educator with 31 years of experience, 17
  of them teaching middle school, Ms. Gieringer worked for the
  Weslaco ISD and set up a reading lab and was a reading instructor
  for the Aramco Oil Company in Saudi Arabia before joining the Round
  Rock ISD, where she originally taught English and reading and
  worked with students in the Talented and Gifted Program at Chisholm
  Trail Middle School; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1995, Ms. Gieringer has been at Old Town
  Elementary School, where she is the school's reading
  interventionist, working with groups of students daily to help them
  with reading comprehension and decoding; she also helps fifth-grade
  students prepare for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills
  test, and she serves on the district's Response to Intervention
  Committee; and
         WHEREAS, Chris Gieringer's dedication to her profession and
  her unwavering commitment to the young people of Round Rock have set
  an inspiring example for her colleagues and students alike, and she
  is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Chris Gieringer for being named Round
  Rock ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Gieringer as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
