R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Dallas has greatly benefited from the
  dedicated leadership of Jerry Allen since he was elected to the city
  council in June 2007; and
         WHEREAS, During his tenure in municipal government,
  Councilman Allen has ably guided the Dallas community with an eye to
  the future, and his knowledge and expertise in a wide range of civic
  issues have earned him the respect of many people along the way; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Allen has further contributed to his community
  as a member of the DART board of directors, as president and
  treasurer of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, and as secretary
  of the First Republic Bank Greenville Avenue Board of Directors;
  and
         WHEREAS, His efforts have also benefited the local school
  council at Merriman Park Elementary and numerous programs at Lake
  Highlands High School, including the band club, the basketball,
  football, and cross-country teams, and the Character Counts
  program, which he founded; in recognition of his outstanding work
  in behalf of the institution, he was honored with the PTA Wildcat
  Award; and
         WHEREAS, Jerry Allen attended the University of Wisconsin and
  the University of North Texas, earning his bachelor's degree in
  banking and finance; today, he serves as senior vice president of
  Colonial Bank; and
         WHEREAS, A valued member of Lakeside Baptist Church, he has
  been supported in all of his endeavors by a loving family, including
  his wife of 29 years, Patti Ann, and his daughters, Katie and
  Kristie; and
         WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
  life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and Jerry Allen
  is helping to make Dallas an even better place in which to live and
  work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jerry Allen for his outstanding service on
  the Dallas City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
