R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss
  of Hayes H. Bolitho of Holly Lake Ranch, who passed away on April
  21, 2009, at the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bolitho was born on December 22, 1917, to Thomas
  and Edna Bolitho in Butte, Montana; he answered his nation's call to
  duty with service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and
  fought in the Philippines until his capture by the Japanese; he
  survived two years as a prisoner of war before escaping from a
  torpedoed transport ship and taking refuge with Philippine
  guerrillas; after returning to the United States, he was presented
  with the Purple Heart by Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Bolitho worked for 32 years in
  sales and marketing for General Mills, and as he took on new
  responsibilities in the company, he and his family lived in several
  different cities around the country; he retired in 1981 and settled
  in East Texas, where he enjoyed playing golf and reading; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bolitho enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Irene, with whom he shared 63 rewarding
  years of marriage; the couple were the parents of four daughters,
  Judy Herron, Joan Osborne, Janie Bolitho, and Jennifer Wilhelmi,
  who preceded her father in death; with the passing years, the family
  grew to include six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, Hayes Bolitho possessed the courage and initiative
  that defined the finest members of his generation, and his loved
  ones will forever cherish his achievements and their many fond
  memories of the happy times they spent in his company; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hayes H. Bolitho and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Irene Bolitho; to his children, Judy Herron and her husband, Phil,
  Joan Osborne, and Janie Bolitho; to his grandchildren, Brian
  Osborne and his wife, Karen, Tonya Delborne and her husband, Jason,
  Christopher Herron, Scott Herron and his wife, Lynne, and Corbin
  and Trent Wilhelmi; to his great-grandchildren; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hayes
  Bolitho.
