R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mirian D. Spencer of El Paso has distinguished |
|
herself through her career in public service and her community |
|
involvement; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree in criminal |
|
justice from Texas Christian University in 2001, Ms. Spencer joined |
|
the staff of the El Paso Police Department, and in 2003, she became |
|
the regional command research assistant for the organization; since |
|
2005, she has worked for the City of El Paso Development Services, |
|
in the planning division; she has also furthered her education by |
|
taking business administration courses, and she is currently |
|
enrolled in the planning certificate program at The University of |
|
Texas at El Paso; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Spencer is affiliated with many local groups, |
|
including the Camino Real Mexican American Democrats and the Black |
|
El Paso Democrats, and she serves as the chair for Precinct 99; in |
|
addition, she is active in the West Texas chapter of the American |
|
Planning Association, and she is a former president of the Sun City |
|
Lions Club; she has also been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, |
|
Inc., for nearly a decade, participating in a number of service |
|
projects aimed at youth and serving as secretary of the |
|
organization; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, Mirian Spencer has demonstrated a |
|
strong commitment to her community, and she may indeed reflect with |
|
great pride on her many achievements and contributions; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Mirian D. Spencer on her service to her |
|
fellow Texans and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Spencer as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
