R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, David Murguia of El Paso is graduating from |
|
Cathedral High School in 2009, and his outstanding academic efforts |
|
have earned him an extraordinary $1.1 million in scholarship |
|
offers; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Blanca and Roberto Murguia, |
|
Mr. Murguia was courted by a number of top institutions, including |
|
The University of Texas at Austin, Rice University, the University |
|
of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, Princeton, Columbia, |
|
and Cornell; he plans to attend Stanford University, and after |
|
earning his bachelor's degree, he hopes to pursue graduate studies |
|
and start his own business; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Murguia has excelled not only in his scholastic |
|
endeavors, but also as a member of Cathedral High School's state |
|
championship swim team, distinguishing himself as part of the |
|
team's winning 4-by-200-meter freestyle relay; in addition, he has |
|
participated in drama, shared his time with a number of charitable |
|
groups, and contributed to the local chamber of commerce, the |
|
Hispanic Leadership Institute, and LaSallian Youth Organization, |
|
which he has served as vice president; and |
|
WHEREAS, Standing on the threshold of what will undoubtedly |
|
be a bright and rewarding future, David Murguia may take |
|
justifiable pride in his achievements and look forward with |
|
anticipation and optimism to the challenges and opportunities that |
|
lie ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate David Murguia for his outstanding |
|
academic achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Murguia as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
