R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss
  of U.S. Army Specialist Kamisha Jane Block of Vidor, who died on
  August 16, 2007, at the age of 20, while serving in Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Jane and Jerry Block, Kamisha Block
  was born in Vidor, where she won many friends with her kindness and
  her outgoing personality; a valued member of Eastgate United
  Pentecostal Church and a model student, she motivated her friends
  to strive toward academic success as well; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Block dreamed of a career in law
  enforcement; diligent and goal-oriented, she held babysitting jobs
  and began working at a restaurant before graduating from Vidor High
  School in 2005; in July of that year, she joined the army and served
  proudly as a military police officer; and
         WHEREAS, Before her deployment to Iraq, Specialist Block was
  stationed in Korea, and in January 2007, she was assigned to the
  401st Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion,
  89th Military Police Brigade, based at Fort Hood; dedicated and
  brave, she was affectionately known as "Wonder Woman" by her fellow
  soldiers; her radiant smile and irrepressible humor brightened
  difficult days, while her readiness to help others benefited many
  fellow soldiers; her numerous decorations included the Bronze Star,
  the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the
  Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Kamisha Block exemplified the highest ideals of the
  U.S. armed forces; although her passing has left a void in the lives
  of those who were fortunate enough to know her, they will forever
  treasure their memories of this remarkable young woman; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist
  Kamisha Jane Block and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her parents, Jerry and Jane Block; to her sister, Shonta
  Godeaux; to her grandmother, Gertrude Stuckey; to her aunts and
  uncles, Steve and Gayle Stuckey, Mary Vella, John and Jackie
  Stuckey, Kathey and Floyd Byerley, Arlene and Doug Conn, Darlene
  and Ray Gills, Wayne and Joy Stuckey, and Terry and Hope Stuckey; to
  her nephew, Hyden Godeaux; and to her other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kamisha
  Block.
