R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |
|
at the loss of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jeremy W. Burris of |
|
Liberty, who died while bravely serving his country on October 8, |
|
2007, at the age of 22; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, |
|
1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp |
|
Pendleton, California, Lance Corporal Burris came to the aid of two |
|
injured marines just minutes before he was killed by a bomb in Anbar |
|
Province, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Burris was a person of deep faith, |
|
which he shared with others through his involvement with a |
|
Christian ministry in Tacoma, Washington; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love of country leads them to military duty, and time |
|
can never diminish the profound debt that Americans owe to Jeremy |
|
Burris for the service he undertook and the sacrifice he rendered; |
|
he was a marine of honor and valor, and those who were fortunate |
|
enough to share in his love and friendship will forever carry him |
|
close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of U.S. Marine Lance |
|
Corporal Jeremy Burris and extend sincere sympathy to the members |
|
of his family: to his parents, Brent and Karla Burris; to his four |
|
brothers; to his two sisters; and to his other relatives and many |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Marine |
|
Lance Corporal Jeremy W. Burris. |
