R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Peter D. L. Hwang of Houston has distinguished
  himself as a dedicated civic leader and volunteer; and
         WHEREAS, After earning bachelor's and master's degrees in
  economics from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan and the
  University of Central Missouri, respectively, Mr. Hwang relocated
  to the Bayou City, where he attended Rice University and studied
  theory and policy for macroeconomics; he went on to become the
  proprietor of Cozy Home Services; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Hwang has devoted his time
  and resources to numerous organizations in the greater Houston
  area, serving on the advisory board for Bonita House of Hope and as
  a sponsor of the youth program of the Institute of Chinese Culture,
  and he has been a volunteer consultant with Junior Achievement of
  Southeast Texas for the past decade; a former chair, he is currently
  on the board of the Chinese American Relief Effort (CARE), and he
  has been actively involved in the CCC-Katrina CARE Program; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Hwang is a founding executive
  member of Houston 80/20 Asian American Political Action Committee,
  and he was the vice president of the Joint Chinese College Alumni
  Association of Southern USA and a member of the JCCAA scholarship
  review panel; he also served as the president of the El Dorado
  Municipal Utility District for 13 years, and he is the vice
  president of the Audubon Park Condominium Homeowners Association in
  Humble; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Hwang enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Jennifer, and their two sons, Richard and
  Duke; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to building a stronger community, Mr.
  Hwang has garnered the lasting respect and admiration of his fellow
  citizens, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on his notable
  achievements and contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Peter D. L. Hwang of Houston for his
  efforts in behalf of his community and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hwang as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
