R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant Joseph |
|
Bradley Milledge suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |
|
this valiant soldier on October 5, 2007, at the age of 23; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|
Regiment, out of Vilseck, Germany, Sergeant Milledge was mortally |
|
wounded by an improvised explosive device in Baghdad; he joined the |
|
Army in 2004 and was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joey Milledge was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on |
|
February 3, 1984, to Carla and Jack Milledge; after graduating from |
|
Glenwood High School in 2002, he moved to Point Blank in San Jacinto |
|
County; devoted to his family, he enjoyed the love and support of |
|
his wife, Amanda, and their son, Joseph; and |
|
WHEREAS, A thoughtful and compassionate young man, Sergeant |
|
Milledge loved to read about religion and philosophy, and he asked |
|
his family to send him toys and clothing to distribute to Iraqi |
|
children; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joseph Milledge exemplified the highest ideals of |
|
the U.S. armed forces and inspired others with his courage and |
|
fortitude; although he is deeply missed, those who loved him will |
|
forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Joseph |
|
Milledge and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Amanda; to his son, Joseph Bradley Ryan |
|
Milledge, Jr.; to his mother, Carla Milledge; to his father, Jack |
|
Milledge; to his brothers, Eric and Nathan Milledge; to his |
|
sisters, Mary Cooper and Jaclyn Dunkirk; and to his other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph |
|
Milledge. |
