R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Beverly |
|
Ann Jackson, who passed away on April 29, 2009, at the age of 75; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on December 26, 1933, to Charles and Zoura |
|
Jayne Beavers, the former Beverly Beavers graduated from Lamar High |
|
School and attended the University of Houston; she married Neal |
|
Jackson and the couple enjoyed 56 rewarding years of matrimony and |
|
raised three daughters, Lee Ann, Dodie, and Molly, and a son, Chip, |
|
who preceded his mother in death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson blazed many trails in the course of her |
|
life, becoming the first woman elected to the Pasadena City Council |
|
and serving as a founder of the San Jacinto Day Foundation, the San |
|
Jacinto Day Parade, and the Pasadena Strawberry Festival; moreover, |
|
she was very active for many years in the Pasadena Rotary Anns; and |
|
WHEREAS, A career educator and administrator, Mrs. Jackson |
|
served as headmistress for St. Barnabas Episcopal Day School for 25 |
|
years before founding the Carden-Jackson School in Pearland, and |
|
she continued to oversee its operations until her death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her many contributions to her family and her |
|
community, Beverly Jackson left an indelible mark on the world |
|
around her, and she will be deeply missed by all those who shared in |
|
the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Beverly Ann Jackson |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Neal Allen Jackson; to her daughters, Lee Ann Jackson, |
|
Beverly Ann "Dodie" Jackson, and Molly Blair Young and her husband, |
|
Michael; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Beverly |
|
Jackson. |
