R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A group of 12 young athletes from the Fort Worth area |
|
have been named to a junior olympic baseball team that will compete |
|
in the Olimpiade del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in August |
|
2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious event takes place every four years, |
|
drawing 5,000 competitors from 25 countries; only two baseball |
|
teams from the United States are taking part in the 2009 Olimpiade, |
|
and both of them hail from North Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Two of the Fort Worth-area players, Daniel Gresham |
|
and Easton Etter, attend H. F. Stevens Middle School in Crowley; |
|
they are joined by five Johnson County athletes: Garrett Augsburger |
|
and Eric Yarger from Loflin Middle School in Joshua, Jerry Taft from |
|
Godley Middle School in Godley, and Reid Woods and Casey Shane from |
|
Hughes Middle School in Burleson; and |
|
WHEREAS, Also part of the team are David Tieding, Kameron |
|
Kripple, and Hunter Nurdin, who attend McLean Middle School in Fort |
|
Worth, John Ferguson from Fort Worth Country Day School, and Drake |
|
Camilleri from Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their exceptional performances on the |
|
diamond, these players have earned the opportunity to take part in |
|
international competition, and their participation is sure to prove |
|
an enriching experience that they will continue to value in the |
|
years ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the members of the Fort Worth-area |
|
Olimpiade del Tricolore junior olympic baseball team and extend to |
|
them sincere best wishes for success in their upcoming games in |
|
Italy; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team members as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
