R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Linda Pravda Horowitz of Houston has long
  distinguished herself through her service to her community, and her
  leadership and generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt
  admiration of all who know her; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Mrs. Horowitz graduated
  from Bellaire High School and went on to earn bachelor's and
  master's degrees in speech pathology from the University of
  Houston; her notable career has included employment as a teacher,
  speech pathologist, and real estate broker; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Horowitz has benefited her
  fellow Texans as a board member of the Gamma Sigma Sigma alumni
  service sorority, as chair of the local chapter of Meals on Wheels,
  and as a board member of The River Performing and Visual Arts
  Center, an initiative that provides accessible, affordable fine
  arts education for economically disadvantaged children as well as
  those with disabilities and chronic illness; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Horowitz has also made a positive difference in
  her work with Hadassah, which she has led as president, and in her
  work as membership vice president of the Emma Lazarus Group, chair
  of Shalom Beit Domestic Violence Prevention, and board member of
  Congregation Beth Yeshurun; and
         WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their
  time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude,
  and it is a pleasure to honor Mrs. Horowitz, who has enriched the
  lives of many with her exemplary civic engagement; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Linda Pravda Horowitz for her
  significant contributions to the betterment of her community and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Horowitz as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
