R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Delores Hadnott of Houston has long distinguished
  herself through her service to her community, and her leadership
  and generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt admiration
  of all who know her; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Arcadia, Louisiana, Ms. Hadnott
  graduated as salutatorian and class president from Grambling State
  University, where she was active in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; she
  settled in the Bayou City in 1975 and began a notable career with
  the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hadnott served in a number of prominent posts
  during her tenure, working as youth services coordinator, assistant
  director to the director of youth services, and branch office
  director; over the course of her three decades with the Red Cross,
  she recruited and trained thousands of volunteers who joined her in
  her efforts to make Houston a better place for all of its residents;
  and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has also made a positive
  difference as a leader at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church;
  in addition to her service as youth assistant director, Sunday
  school secretary, and member of the usher board, she is currently
  serving as assistant church secretary, a member of the finance
  committee, program coordinator for the Mission Society, and a
  Sunday school teacher; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Ms. Hadnott has a daughter,
  Crystal Denise, a son, Lawrence Oliver, a stepson, Lawrence Isaiah,
  and a daughter-in-law, Shakwanna; she is also a doting grandmother
  to her grandson, Ashton Josiah; and
         WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their
  time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude,
  and it is a pleasure to honor Ms. Hadnott, who has enriched the
  lives of many with her dedicated service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Delores Hadnott for her significant
  contributions to the betterment of her community and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hadnott as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
