R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Elizabeth Beasley has contributed greatly to the
  betterment of her community for many years; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Galveston, Ms. Beasley has lived in Houston
  for more than four decades; until her retirement, she worked in
  retail and as an aide at St. Joseph Medical Center; and
         WHEREAS, Through her work with the Southcrest Community
  Improvement Association, including service as the association's
  president, Ms. Beasley has played a vital role in enhancing the
  quality of life enjoyed by her fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong religious faith, she has been
  active in Wesley Chapel AME Church, serving as a lay worker, as a
  volunteer in the church nursery, and as the "coffee lady"; and
         WHEREAS, Elizabeth Beasley has distinguished herself as an
  engaged and caring individual who gives generously of her time and
  energy in behalf of others, and she may indeed take pride in the
  positive impact she has made in the lives of her friends and
  neighbors; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Elizabeth Beasley on her service to her
  community and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Beasley as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
