R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Vergie Miller of Houston has distinguished herself |
|
through her service to the community, and her leadership and |
|
generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt admiration of |
|
all who know her; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Crockett, Ms. Miller moved to Houston in |
|
1952; she worked for Talbert Oil for many years, and after her |
|
retirement, she established a home health care business; and |
|
WHEREAS, This industrious Texan has served as treasurer of |
|
the Brookhaven Civic Club for more than two decades, and she has |
|
given selflessly of her time and talents to improve her |
|
neighborhood and to help countless people in her community; an |
|
Eastern Star Associate Matron since 1983, Ms. Miller is also a |
|
valued member of Pisidia Missionary Baptist Church, where she |
|
volunteers with the Christian Outreach Ministries; and |
|
WHEREAS, She and her husband, the late James E. Miller, were |
|
blessed with four children, and Ms. Miller has since known the joy |
|
of welcoming into her family 13 grandchildren and 10 |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Texas communities are made richer by the efforts of |
|
those individuals who step forward to participate in community life |
|
and help fellow citizens in need, and Vergie Miller has set an |
|
outstanding example of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Vergie Miller for her contributions to the |
|
community and extend to her best wishes for continued success in her |
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
