R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Claude Cummings of Houston has contributed greatly
  to the betterment of his community for many years; and
         WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Bayou City, Mr. Cummings
  graduated from Kashmere High School and went on to attend Tuskegee
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cummings was a communications technician with
  AT&T for 34 years before his retirement; in his current role as
  president of Communications Workers of America Local 6222, he has
  helped to lead a number of service projects, including efforts to
  assist disadvantaged youth, nursing homes, and local food banks;
  and
         WHEREAS, A man of strong faith as well, Mr. Cummings has also
  been active with Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church, where he
  volunteers with the Faith Revitalization Center and serves as chair
  of the deacons board; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding Texan has distinguished himself as
  a voice for working people, a source of hope for the needy, and a
  caring member of his community, and he may indeed take pride in his
  achievements and contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Claude Cummings for his long record of
  service in behalf of his fellow Texans and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Cummings as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
