R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rabbi Ranon Teller of Congregation Brith Shalom
  faithfully serves the spiritual needs of his community in Greater
  Houston, and his genuine regard for the welfare of others has
  enriched the lives of countless people; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Jewish educators, Ranon Teller was born
  and raised in Southfield, Michigan, and attended Akiva Hebrew Day
  School until he moved to Chicago to attend Skokie Yeshiva High
  School; he went on to pursue two years of intense yeshiva study in
  Israel before earning a bachelor's degree in television writing
  from Columbia College in Chicago; his first career eventually took
  him to Los Angeles and Jerusalem, where he enrolled part-time at
  Machon Schechter, a Conservative rabbinical school; and
         WHEREAS, After fully recognizing his calling, Rabbi Teller
  embarked on a joint rabbinic and education program at the
  University of Judaism; he earned a master's degree in education
  from the Fingerhut School of Education in 1999 and received the
  school's Education Award for Outstanding Achievement; with his
  rabbinic ordination in 2002, he received the Chancellor's Award for
  Academic Excellence; and
         WHEREAS, Rabbi Teller served as an assistant rabbi and as
  associate rabbi at Congregation B'nai Amoona in St. Louis,
  Missouri, before joining Congregation Brith Shalom in 2005; in
  addition to his many responsibilities as its leader, he serves on
  the board of directors of Jewish Family Service in Houston; he is
  the recipient of the 2007 Mae and Edmund Hecht Rabbinic
  Presentation from the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Rabbi Teller enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Vicki Teller, who chairs the synagogue's
  successful KidShul program; the couple have four children, Ariella,
  Maya, Jake, and Nava; and
         WHEREAS, Rabbi Teller has demonstrated a wholehearted
  commitment to his congregation and to the wider community, and his
  faith and many good works have been a source of profound inspiration
  to all who know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Rabbi Ranon Teller for his service to the
  community and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Rabbi Teller as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
