R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The loved ones of Dorothy Rogers of Waxahachie were |
|
greatly saddened by her passing on April 14, 2009, at the age of 72; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Wellington on March 9, 1937, to George and |
|
Emma Estes, the former Dorothy Estes grew up with the companionship |
|
of two brothers, G. E. and Charles Glen, and a sister, Wanda Jo; and |
|
WHEREAS, She married Gordon Rogers, and the couple shared |
|
nearly 50 years together; their family life was made even richer |
|
with the addition of two children, seven grandchildren, and six |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her 32-year career with Valvoline |
|
Oil Company, Mrs. Rogers was the recipient of multiple honors and |
|
awards; in retirement, she shared her time volunteering in schools |
|
and on mission trips, and she was an active member of the Baylor |
|
Auxiliary, Gingerbread Homemakers, Waxahachie Mothers Club, Ellis |
|
County Republican Women, and Ellis County Master Gardener |
|
Association; she also enjoyed traveling; and |
|
WHEREAS, "Miss Dorothy" was an inspiration to many for her |
|
optimism and her determination to live life to the fullest, and she |
|
will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew |
|
and loved her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Rogers and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Gordon Rogers; to her daughters and their spouses, Debbie |
|
and George Payne and Tracy and Chris Harbour; to her mother, Emma |
|
Estes; to her brother, Charles Glen Estes; to her grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy |
|
Rogers. |
