R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, John H. Turner, Jr., of Ferris has earned the Texas
  Farm Bureau District 4 Pioneer Award for his significant
  contributions to the association and to agriculture statewide; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Turner joined the Ellis County Farm Bureau in
  1957, and he has served as its president and county board member; at
  the county level, he has been a member of the legislative, policy
  development, and public relations and parade committees; his other
  responsibilities for the Farm Bureau have included committee
  assignments for food check-out week, resolutions, membership, and
  the Donald Patman election campaign; and
         WHEREAS, Named Outstanding Conservation Farmer in 1963, Mr.
  Turner also received the 2007 Family Land Heritage award and was
  honored with the American Legion 50-Year Recognition award; his
  outstanding contributions to farming include service on the board
  of the Integrated Pest Management program, the County Livestock
  Committee, and the Screwworm Eradication program; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Turner has been president of the Ferris Coop Gin
  and a board member of the Agricultural Stabilization and
  Conservation Service and the Farmers Home Administration and served
  on the planning committee for the County Cotton Festival; in
  addition, he was a demonstrator for seed varieties, chairman of the
  County Program Building committee, and host of the local television
  Country Reporter broadcast; and
         WHEREAS, This active community leader has assumed the
  responsibilities of director of the Ferris Area Chamber of Commerce
  and further contributed to the County Tax Equalization and County
  Jury Selection Pool, the FFA finance committee, and the local 4-H;
  and
         WHEREAS, The agriculture industry contributes vitally to the
  economic prosperity of the Lone Star State, and John Turner's
  tireless efforts to support important agricultural organizations
  and his notable achievements in farming truly merit special
  recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate John H. Turner, Jr., of Ferris on
  earning the Pioneer Award from the Texas Farm Bureau District 4 and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all of
  his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Turner as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
