R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Roland
  Glen Rogers of Waxahachie, who passed away on February 13, 2009, at
  the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Waxahachie on February 5, 1927, to Steve and
  Virgie Rogers, Roland Rogers graduated from Waxahachie High School
  and answered his nation's call to duty with service in the U.S. Army
  during World War II; he married the former Dorothy Boyd on December
  24, 1946, and the couple shared 62 rewarding years together and
  raised three children, Glenda, Vikki, and Alan; with the passing
  years, their family grew to include seven grandchildren and two
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Rogers worked as internal manager and director
  of maintenance for the Texas Baptist Home for Children, and his
  career there spanned 31 years until his retirement; a longtime
  member of Farley Street Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and
  Sunday school teacher and sat on numerous committees, and in his
  free time he was an avid golfer and fisherman; and
         WHEREAS, Roland Rogers lived a caring and purposeful life,
  and though he will be greatly missed, he leaves his loved ones with
  a wealth of fond memories of the happy times they spent in his
  company; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roland Glen Rogers and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
  Dorothy Rogers; to his children, Glenda Pevehouse and her husband,
  Morris, Vikki Odom and her husband, Randy, and Alan Rogers and his
  wife, Suzanne; to his seven grandchildren and two
  great-grandchildren; to his sister, Margree Mitchell; to his
  sister-in-law, Ina Shireman; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roland
  Rogers.
