R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gary Gandara was elected as a trustee of the Socorro
  Independent School District on May 9, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Continuing a family tradition of public service,
  Mr. Gandara is joining his father, Willie Gandara, Sr., on the
  school board; Gary Gandara previously served on the Socorro City
  Council from 2002 to 2007, when his tenure overlapped with the terms
  of his brother, Willie Gandara, Jr., and his cousin, Jesse Gandara;
  and
         WHEREAS, This civic-minded Texan is committed to upgrading
  schools in the lower valley of El Paso County and raising salaries
  for district employees; in his professional life, Gary Gandara is
  vice president of operations for a family business, Socorro Iron
  and Metal; and
         WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the
  informed participation of its people, and those dedicated
  individuals who are willing to take on the demands of public office
  play an especially vital role; in his desire to serve others and
  work toward the greater good, Gary Gandara is accepting an
  important responsibility and setting an inspiring example for his
  fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gary Gandara on his election as a
  trustee of the Socorro Independent School District and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for a productive and rewarding tenure in
  office; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Gandara as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
