R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Meredith Kate Bell has distinguished herself
  throughout her college athletic career as a member of The
  University of Texas at Tyler softball team; and
         WHEREAS, This versatile player has excelled in a number of
  positions for the Patriots and was named to the All-Conference Team
  for the American Southwest Conference three times, once as a
  catcher, once as a designated player, and once for her performance
  at first base; Ms. Bell also earned a spot on the ASC All-Conference
  Tournament Team each year from 2007 through 2009 and was an NCAA
  All-Region Team honoree as a sophomore in 2007 and as a senior in
  2009; and
         WHEREAS, Her final year of collegiate competition proved
  especially memorable for Ms. Bell; she racked up 14 home runs and 40
  runs batted in and helped UT Tyler to claim the ASC championship;
  moreover, the team went on to win the West Regional tournament and
  contended for the national championship in the NCAA Division III
  Softball College World Series in Montclair, New Jersey; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Bell's outstanding work with the Patriots is
  clear from her statistics; she compiled a .327 career batting
  average and an on-base percentage of .382 while accounting for 30
  home runs; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Keith and Annette Bell, Kate Bell
  lives in Forney and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business
  management in 2009; she intends to pursue a graduate degree in her
  field and has been accepted into the master's program in business
  administration at UT Tyler; and
         WHEREAS, An athlete possessing great skill and dedication,
  Kate Bell has won the respect and admiration of her teammates and
  competitors, and her notable contributions to the UT Tyler softball
  squad will be remembered by Patriots fans for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Meredith Kate Bell on her
  exceptional achievements as a member of The University of Texas at
  Tyler softball team and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  success in her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Bell as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
