R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Citizens of Frisco are coming together on the
  weekend of October 16 through 18, 2009, to celebrate the first
  annual Frisco Arts Festival; and
         WHEREAS, Presented by Frisco Arts and the Newman Village
  community, the juried festival features work from more than 100
  professional artists from the United States and abroad; and
         WHEREAS, This family-friendly event will also include booths
  providing samples from local restaurants, as well as local
  musicians and performers displaying their talent on the community
  stage and professional acts performing on the main stage; and
         WHEREAS, Proceeds will benefit a number of local nonprofit
  arts organizations, including the Frisco Area Children's Theater,
  the Frisco Chorale, the Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra, and the
  Plano Symphony Orchestra; and
         WHEREAS, Local arts festivals are an immeasurable asset to
  their communities, providing enrichment and recreation to those who
  attend and contributing significantly to the local economy, and
  this exciting new festival promises to become a much-anticipated
  annual affair; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the first annual Frisco Arts
  Festival and extend to the festival's organizers, artists, and
  attendees sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Frisco Arts as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
