R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Patrick Steck has provided valuable public service
  to the people of the great State of Texas as a legislative aide in
  the office of Representative Dan Gattis during the 81st Legislative
  Session; and
         WHEREAS, A December 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University
  with a bachelor's degree in economics, Mr. Steck sought to apply his
  academic knowledge by gaining practical hands-on experience in
  Texas government through the prestigious Agricultural and Natural
  Resources Policy Internship Program at Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Steck was selected for his internship assignment
  by the office of Representative Dan Gattis after an extensive
  interview process, during which he thoughtfully and succinctly
  answered the many and varied questions posed to intern candidates;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Steck has exceeded all expectations of
  Representative Gattis and his office colleagues, skillfully
  handling the many diverse responsibilities assigned to him in his
  role as a legislative aide; he worked on all aspects of the
  representative's legislative agenda, serving as principal staffer
  assigned to the House Committee on Technology, Economic
  Development, and Workforce, where he was a natural fit due to his
  keen interest in technological advancements and economic policy;
  ably performing all of his assigned committee responsibilities, he
  reviewed and provided detailed and accurate analyses of all bills
  heard by the committee; and
         WHEREAS, Well-liked by his fellow staffers for his team
  attitude, friendly personality, and professional work habits, he
  demonstrated a genuine desire to learn any task and complete all
  assignments in a superior and timely fashion; these efforts clearly
  contributed to the success of the legislation authored and
  sponsored by Representative Gattis during the session; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Steck is committed to furthering his knowledge
  in public policy and has been accepted as a part of the fall class of
  the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of
  Texas; given his demonstrated scholarship and legislative
  experience gained during this session, this Fightin' Texas Aggie
  will undoubtedly excel, and teach Longhorns how to "Whoop" in the
  finest Aggie tradition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st
  Legislature hereby commend Patrick Steck for his service as a
  legislative aide in the office of State Representative Dan Gattis,
  thank him for his work in behalf of the citizens of Texas, and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Steck as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
