R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Schmalzried was sworn in as the new mayor of |
|
|
Edcouch on May 12, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 25-year-old grandson of former mayor John Edward |
|
|
Schmalzried, Robert Schmalzried attended The University of |
|
|
Texas--Pan American; he currently works as a customer service |
|
|
representative for a medical equipment supplier; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Schmalzried first contemplated campaigning for |
|
|
public office at the age of 18, when he considered a run for the |
|
|
Edcouch-Elsa school board; persuaded by his mother, Rosa Tanguma, |
|
|
to learn about the world of politics first, this dynamic young |
|
|
leader worked on several school board campaigns and studied |
|
|
political science at UTPA; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Now, having won election to the position that his |
|
|
grandfather once held, Mr. Schmalzried will surely bring new energy |
|
|
and a fresh vision to leading the community in meeting the |
|
|
challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Schmalzried on his election |
|
|
as mayor of Edcouch and extend to him sincere best wishes for a |
|
|
successful tenure; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mayor Schmalzried as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
