R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss
  of Jack Thomas Garrison of Elm Mott, who passed away on May 2, 2009,
  at the age of 93; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Thomas Garrison was born on August 18, 1915, to
  Lillie May Guffey and John Lee Garrison in Elm Mott; he married the
  former Cathryn Cagle, with whom he nurtured a rewarding
  relationship that spanned more than seven decades; together the
  couple raised two sons, Larry and Jack, and welcomed three
  grandchildren into their treasured family; and
         WHEREAS, In his youth, Mr. Garrison had held a variety of
  jobs, including working at his father's blacksmith shop, wiring
  houses for electricity in the 1930s, and preparing tanks for the
  U.S. Army at Fort Hood during World War II; he spent several years
  as a service writer for local auto dealerships and as the owner and
  operator of a machine shop; he later worked for Texas State
  Technical College Waco, and after his retirement in 1981, he
  enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and fishing; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Garrison led a caring and purposeful life, and
  he will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to
  share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Thomas
  Garrison and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
  to his wife, Cathryn Cagle Garrison; to his children, Larry
  Garrison and his wife, Chandra, and Jack Garrison and his wife,
  Marianne; to his grandchildren; to his brother, Olan "Pinkie"
  Garrison; to his niece, Diane Gillet; to his friends, Roland and
  Wanda Lang; and to his other friends and relatives; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack
  Garrison.
