R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, John and Joann Harrod of Longview
  celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Harrod were united in matrimony in
  Louisiana in 1959; through the years, they have nurtured a
  fulfilling marriage and become the parents of five children, Becky
  McClain, David Harrod, Amy Meachum, Lanna Barry, and the late Mark
  Harrod; their family later grew to include 11 grandchildren and 3
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Harrod answered his nation's call to duty with
  service in the U.S. Army and operated his own mechanic service until
  his retirement; Mrs. Harrod has served as an administrative
  assistant for Community Healthcore for more than 20 years; members
  of Calvary Christian Tabernacle, the couple spend much of their
  free time planning for their dream home, which is currently under
  construction; and
         WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
  world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife
  have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the
  strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
  and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate John and Joann Harrod on their
  golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Harrod as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
