R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Specialist Roy D. Donaldson, Jr., has rendered
  valiant service to this state and nation as a member of the Texas
  Army National Guard; and
         WHEREAS, With the encouragement of his father, retired Chief
  Warrant Officer 2 Roy Donaldson, this patriotic young man enlisted
  in the national guard in 2004, while he was still attending Bastrop
  High School; he received his basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma,
  during the summer between his junior and senior years; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating in 2006, Specialist Donaldson
  trained as an aviation mechanic at Fort Eustis, Virginia, and from
  October 2007 to February 2008, he received advanced individual
  training as a crew chief, also at Fort Eustis; and
         WHEREAS, Mobilized in March 2008 as a door gunner for Bravo
  Company, 2-149 General Support Aviation Battalion, Specialist
  Donaldson was deployed to Iraq in June 2008, where his company flies
  and maintains heavy-lift Chinook helicopters out of Joint Base
  Balad; and
         WHEREAS, Seven soldiers of Bravo Company were lost in
  September 2008 when their helicopter went down, and Specialist
  Donaldson honors their memory and their sacrifice with his
  continuing dedication to the mission and his determination to
  become a Chinook pilot himself; and
         WHEREAS, This brave young man enjoys the love and support of
  his parents, retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 Roy D. Donaldson and
  Ramona Donaldson, his grandparents, Hilbert and Judy Navarro and
  James and Ardith Donaldson, his brother, Tomas Donaldson, his
  sister, Mariah Donaldson, and his niece and nephew, Lyrica and
  Dylan Donaldson; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication to duty, honor, and this
  country, Roy Donaldson, Jr., embodies the highest ideals of the
  U.S. armed forces, and he has earned the lasting respect and
  appreciation of every American; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Texas Army National Guard Specialist Roy
  D. Donaldson, Jr., for his steadfast service in Iraq and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Specialist Donaldson as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
