R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jo Ann Evans has contributed greatly to her |
|
|
community as a member of the South Padre Island Board of Aldermen; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native Midwesterner, Ms. Evans grew up in St. |
|
|
Louis and attended Northwestern University in Chicago, where she |
|
|
met her husband; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Evans and her family lived for many years in the |
|
|
Chicago area, where she worked as assistant superintendent for the |
|
|
fourth largest high school district in Illinois; she was also |
|
|
responsible for coordinating cooperative relationships with 10 |
|
|
other school districts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since relocating to South Padre Island in 2000, Ms. |
|
|
Evans has continued to play an important role in her community, |
|
|
serving as an alderwoman and mayor pro tem for the South Padre Board |
|
|
of Aldermen; she is also the vice chair and event coordinator for El |
|
|
Paseo Arts Foundation and actively engaged in volunteer work; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The welfare and prosperity of Texas communities |
|
|
depend in large part on the dedication of civic-minded individuals, |
|
|
and Jo Ann Evans has earned the admiration and appreciation of the |
|
|
people of South Padre Island for her efforts in their behalf; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Jo Ann Evans for her service on the South |
|
|
Padre Board of Aldermen and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Evans as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
